Publish a post immediately

Post Now publishes an approved post right away, instead of waiting for its scheduled time. Use it when you want a post to go live immediately.

Before you start

  • The post must be Approved. Pending, rejected, expired, failed, and already-posted posts don’t offer Post Now.
  • The platform the post is going to must be connected. If it isn’t, you see Connect a social account to publish → instead of a Post Now button.
  • Your administrator may have turned publishing off for this environment. See If publishing is turned off in this environment below.
  • Not every Post Now button asks you to confirm first. See below for which ones do.

Publish a whole post from the Content page

  1. Open Content in the sidebar.
  2. On the row for the post, select the menu.
  3. Select Post Now.
  4. Confirm Publish now? This goes live immediately.
  5. The post publishes to every platform version that’s currently Approved.

Post Now only appears in the menu when at least one platform version of the post is Approved.

Publish from the post’s page

Open the post from the Content page to reach its page. From there you can publish the whole post at once, or a single platform version.

Publish every approved platform version at once:

  1. At the top of the page, select Post Now (next to Duplicate).
  2. Confirm Publish now? This goes live immediately.

Or, in the Group Actions panel on the side of the page, select Post Now there instead. It publishes the same platform versions, but it publishes immediately, without the “Publish now?” confirmation.

Publish one platform version:

  1. Select the tab for that platform (for example, the Facebook tab).
  2. If that platform version’s status is Approved, select Post Now below the editor. This publishes immediately and doesn’t show the “Publish now?” confirmation either.

Only two Post Now buttons confirm before publishing: the Content page’s row menu, and the top-of-page Post Now button. The Group Actions panel’s Post Now and the per-platform Post Now below the editor publish immediately with no confirmation step, so double-check the post before selecting either of those.

If a platform isn’t connected

If the platform a post needs isn’t connected, you see Connect a social account to publish → in place of Post Now. Select it to go to your brand page, then connect the account. See Connect your social accounts.

When a post has more than one platform version and only some of them are connected, Post Now still appears, but a note lists which platforms aren’t connected yet:

Not connected yet: {platforms} — these posts can’t publish until you connect those accounts.

If publishing is turned off in this environment

Some environments have publishing to real social platforms turned off. If yours does, selecting Post Now shows:

Publishing is turned off in this environment — approved posts stay in the queue for manual posting.

Approved posts stay exactly where they are. Nothing is lost. You can still approve, schedule, and manage posts as usual. Only the final publish step is disabled. Contact your administrator if you expect publishing to be on.

What success looks like

Once a post publishes, you see a Publishing now confirmation, and the post moves to Posted. Find it on the History page to confirm it went live and see a link to the post. See See what you’ve published.

Your monthly limit on published posts

Your plan includes a monthly limit on how many posts you can publish. If Post Now would put you over that limit, you see You’ve hit your plan limit with your current usage, and the post doesn’t publish. Select Upgrade your plan to raise your limit, or wait until next month. See Understand your plan and usage.

If something goes wrong

“No connected {platform} account for this brand”: the platform version tried to publish but its account isn’t connected. Reconnect the account, then try again. See Connect your social accounts.

“You’ve hit your plan limit”: you’ve used your full monthly allowance of published posts. Upgrade your plan or wait until next month.

If the platform itself rejects the post (for example, a missing image on Instagram or an expired connection), the post’s status changes to Failed instead of publishing. See Fix a post that didn’t publish for those error messages and how to retry.
