Write a post yourself

Type your own post text instead of having AI write it for you. Use this when you already know exactly what you want to say.

Before you start

You need a brand set up. If you haven’t created one yet, see Set up your brand.

Steps

  1. Select + Create Post.
  2. Select the ✍️ Write it myself tab.
  3. Enter a Name for the post. This is a short internal title, and it doesn’t get posted. It has a 120-character limit.
  4. Type your post text in the Post field.
  5. Watch the character counter under the Post field as you type. It shows your current character count against the limit for the most restrictive platform you have selected below the counter (for example, if you have selected both Twitter/X and LinkedIn, the counter uses Twitter/X’s lower limit). If you have Twitter/X selected, the counter counts any web link in your text as 23 characters, no matter how long the actual link is.
  6. Optionally, enter comma-separated words in the Hashtags field (for example, marketing, launch, product). Don’t include the # symbol. It’s added for you.
  7. Under Platforms, select every platform you want this post created for.
  8. Select Create Post.

After you select Create Post, one pending post is created for each platform you selected. Each one waits for your approval before it can publish. See Review and approve your posts.

Character limits per platform

The character counter always applies the limit of the most restrictive platform you have selected, so if you’re writing for multiple platforms at once, the shortest limit controls what you can type. The limits are:

PlatformCharacter limit
Twitter/X280
Instagram2,200
TikTok2,200
LinkedIn3,000
Reddit40,000
Facebook63,206

For Twitter/X specifically, any web link in your post counts as 23 characters against the limit, regardless of how long the actual URL is.

You can’t type past the limit for your most restrictive selected platform. The Post field stops accepting new characters once you reach it. If you add a platform with a shorter limit after you have already written past its limit, Create Post is disabled until you shorten your text or remove that platform.

If something goes wrong

“Content is required”: You selected Create Post with the Post field empty. Type your post text and try again.

“Select at least one platform”: You selected Create Post without choosing any platform. Select at least one platform under Platforms.

Create Post button is disabled and does nothing when clicked: Either the Post field is empty, or your text is over the character limit for your most restrictive selected platform. Check the character counter under the Post field and shorten your text, or remove the platform that’s limiting you.

“Failed to create post” (or another error message under the form): The request to create your post failed. Try again in a moment.
