Run a compliance check before approving

If your brand has compliance review turned on, PostSignOff checks each post against your industry’s marketing rules. A post can’t be approved until its current text has been checked. Most of the time, the check runs on its own. This page shows how to run it, read the result, and fix what it flags.

Before you start

Compliance review only applies if it’s on for your brand. In Set up your brand, turn on Enable compliance review before approval and pick a compliance pack. If it’s off, posts approve without a check.

When the check runs

You rarely have to start it. It runs by itself:

Right after AI writes a post.
Each time you save a change to the text, sign-off, or hashtags.
When you select Approve on text that hasn’t been checked yet.

A post you write yourself isn’t checked until you save, analyze, or approve it.

The check reads the post’s text, sign-off, and hashtags. If that exact text was checked before, you get the saved result. It doesn’t run again.

Steps

From the Posts page, open a post with the Needs approval status.
Select a platform tab to open that platform version.
Find the compliance panel below the editor. It shows one of these:
- “This content hasn’t been checked yet. Approving runs the compliance check automatically.”
- “Analyzing for compliance…” while a check runs.
- “No compliance issues detected.” when the post passes.
- A list of findings when the check flags something.
To check it now, select Analyze. It’s next to Regenerate. If you have unsaved edits, they’re saved first. The button reads Analyzing… until the check is done.
Read the result:
- No issues: select Approve.
- Findings: fix the text and save. Saving checks it again. Or tick the box under the findings and select Acknowledge & approve to approve it as it is. See Acknowledge findings and approve anyway.

A small chip above the editor sums up the result. It reads Not checked, Checking…, Flagged, Acknowledged, Cleared, or Check unavailable. On the All channels tab, each platform gets a chip too, like CMS Risk Detected or CMS Cleared.

Every result comes with this note: “This is review assistance, not a compliance certification.” The check points things out. Deciding what to do is still up to you.

What Approve does

You can select Approve at any time. If you have unsaved edits, it saves them first. If the text hasn’t been checked, it runs the check. Then:

If the post passes, it’s approved.
If the check finds something, the post isn’t approved. A Compliance review dialog opens with the findings. Fix the text, or tick the box and select Acknowledge & approve.

Approve only turns off when something has to change first. The reason shows in yellow under the button, like “2 findings need acknowledging”.

Reading a finding

Each finding shows:

Severity: info, warning, or high, on a small colored label. Info is gray, warning is yellow, and high is red.
Title and detail: the rule, and why this post broke it.
A quote, when the finding is about certain words. It’s the exact phrase from your post, in quotation marks. Select the finding to highlight that phrase in the editor and the preview. Select it again to clear it. A missing disclaimer has no quote, since there’s nothing there to quote.
A suggestion, when the checker has one, on what to change.
A citation: the rule the finding is based on. For example, the required TPMO disclaimer under Medicare rules cites 42 CFR §422.2267(e)(41).

Insert disclaimer

Some findings, like a missing disclaimer, come with an Insert disclaimer button. Selecting it:

Adds the required disclaimer to the end of the post’s text, above the sign-off and hashtags. This saves right away.
Checks the post again.

New findings replace the old ones. If the post passes, the panel says “No compliance issues detected.”

Save your edits before you select Insert disclaimer. It works from the saved text, so anything you typed but didn’t save is lost.

The Medicare disclaimer has two blanks in square brackets. They’re for the number of organizations and products you represent. Type in your real numbers. Until you do, Approve stays off, with the reason “Fill in [number of organizations] and [number of products] in the disclaimer”.

If the disclaimer won’t fit in the platform’s character limit, the button is off. The reason shows under it. On X, a Standard account has only 280 characters, so it rarely fits.

On the post’s page, the finding also offers Apply to all channels that need it. The post’s ⋯ menu has the same thing, called Apply disclaimers. Either one adds the disclaimer to each pending platform version that needs it and has room. A message tells you how many got one.

Check every platform at once

On the All channels tab, select Reanalyze all. It checks each platform version that’s still waiting for approval. The button reads Reanalyzing… while it works. Text that was already checked keeps its saved result.

Going back to an older version

Select History to open the version list. Revert puts an older version back in the editor as an unsaved change. Save it, or select Approve, and it’s checked like any other edit.

If something goes wrong

“We couldn’t fully check this post — the review service was unavailable. The findings below still apply.”: Part of the check failed, for example during an outage. The summary says “The AI portion of the compliance check was unavailable. Disclaimer checks still ran.” So a missing disclaimer can still show up, even on a post that doesn’t need one. The chip reads Check unavailable. Selecting Analyze won’t run it again on the same text. To get a full check, change the text and save. Or read the post closely yourself, then tick the box and approve it as it is.

“Compliance analysis failed. Please try again.”: Analyze didn’t finish. Select it again in a moment.

“Could not insert the disclaimer.”: The disclaimer couldn’t be added. Select Insert disclaimer again. Or type the disclaimer into the editor yourself and save.

“Could not apply disclaimers. Please try again.”: Apply disclaimers didn’t finish. Try it again in a moment.

“This post has not been analyzed against its current content. Run the compliance analysis before approving.”: This is rare. It means the post changed while you were approving it, maybe in another tab. The Compliance review dialog shows it with a Run analysis button. Select it, then approve again.

“Run the compliance analysis on the current content first”: You’ll only see this on old posts that open on the Post Detail page. There, Approve stays off until you select Analyze.
